HISTORIC WILLIAM PENN WHITE OAK LOG
This Amazing White Oak tree was growing when William Penn was granted Pennsylvania from
the King of England in 1681. It grew in the Saint David's Area near Newtown Square in
southeast PA. I was not lucky enough to get the log. It went to a community project.
I did get six feet of Buttress and the huge crotch. It grew very slow and has sixteen
growth rings per inch and perfect color. I quarter sawed the butt into 8/4 book matched
planks that are 22" to 42" wide, and 5' to 6' long. I flitch cut the crotch into 12/4
slabs 7' wide. These could be end matched, book matched for bar tops Table tops or
a base for a huge tabletop. The 12/4 crotch slabs are still on sticks and will be dried
next year. Get creative and you can own a piece of history.

end match them.

Cedar Of Lebanon - Cedrus Libani
I found this log in my travels through Europe. I had it cut into 12/4 flitches.
They are up to 45" wide and 11' long. This species is very hard to find. This lumber
was prized an exploited by the Phoenicians, Israelites, Egyptians, Persians, Romans,
and the Turks. They used it for ship building. Most of the ancient Cedar forests have
been devastated by centuries of cutting. It has a wonderful intoxicating sweet aroma
and is very durable against insects and weather. These flitches would make incredible
and unusual tabletops.
